Cookie policy
This page explains the cookies and similar browser-storage technologies used on afanexo.com, the lawful basis for each, and how you can manage your consent. It should be read alongside the privacy notice.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed in your browser by a website. Websites also use related technologies, local storage, session storage and similar, for the same kinds of purpose. In this notice we use ‘cookie’ loosely to cover all of them, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the guidance of the Information Commissioner’s Office.
2. The categories we use
Strictly necessary (always on)
These items make the site work. We use browser local storage to remember (a) that you have confirmed you are 18 or over, so we do not show the age modal on every page, and (b) your cookie-consent choice, so we do not re-prompt you on every page. Lawful basis: these are exempt from the consent requirement of PECR because they are strictly necessary for the service you have requested.
age_ok— records your 18+ confirmation. Persists until you clear browser storage.cookies_consent— records your choice in the cookie banner. Persists until you clear browser storage.
Optional, analytics (off by default)
If you select ‘Accept all’ in the cookie banner, we may set additional cookies to count visits and understand which entries readers find useful. This information is aggregated and not used to build advertising profiles. Lawful basis: your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 4 below).
Third-party cookies
Afanexo does not embed third-party advertising, social-media widgets or video players that would set their own cookies on this site. When you follow an outbound link to an operator, that operator’s own cookies and privacy notice will apply on their domain.
3. No pre-ticked boxes
The cookie banner offers a clearly visible ‘Reject optional’ option as prominent as ‘Accept all’. Optional cookies are not set until you actively accept them. Closing the banner without choosing is not treated as consent.
4. Managing or withdrawing consent
You can change your mind at any time by clearing the storage for afanexo.com in your browser settings; the banner will then reappear on your next visit and you can choose again. You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies generally, see the help pages for Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Edge. Be aware that disabling all cookies may affect site features such as the age confirmation.
5. Your rights and complaints
You have the rights set out in our privacy notice, including the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to put any concerns right first, write to [email protected].
6. Changes
If we change the cookies we set, we will update this page and prompt for fresh consent where the law requires it. This version was last reviewed in May 2026.
